If you're looking for change, a breakthrough? Then having a prayer date with Jesus is right for you. About two Sundays ago our guest pastor was encouraging people to take a vacation for prayer. We often take time off to go vacating from place to place, but prayer. You don't have to kneel, prayer can take place in any posture, but your heart must be ready to give up, to be honest, be open to God's Holy Spirit, be willing to listen to Him. Be ready for change! Don't try to hold back. Don't try to take over. Jesus is in charge ("He Is The Man!") so be ready to subject to His authority.
I grew up believing in everything that was negative. My mind was enslaved by all the 'impossibilities'. The things that others told me, the things that I thought about "Me". The "can'ts", the "you're nots", the "you never wills". My mind was sabotaged with nothing but 'lies' from the "pit of hell".
But why do the things people say about you, or what you think about yourself really matters? Have you heard about CURSES? A curse has several meanings but this is the one I want us to focus on in this presentation-"the expression of a wish that misfortune, evil, doom, etc., befall a person group, etc." So, what's the big deal? Thoughts can't do harm because they're not active, and words are just words. No, they're not! The smallest words like 'stupid', or dunce should never be used to describe a child. I say a child because we learn and we become what we believe based on what we've been taught. As we grow we make decisions base on what we've been taught or what we believe and eventually we become what we believe and our thoughts can be turned into realities. So, it starts with child-hood or infancy. If you always infer that your child is "stupid", then don't be surprise that he or she turns out to be just that. Words have an astonishing, unimaginable power (to either build or destroy). Simply because we are in a world filled with both good and evil. The Word of God also emphasizes the power of life and death in the tongue. This is why we are encouraged to think positively (of ourselves and of others), and why we ought to be careful of what we say about ourselves. The words we speak can either create blessings or curse.
