Why is choosing a life-time partner “through the eyes of God” so crucial?

- You may have many potential spouses but there is only one who will be properly equipped, faithful and effective in ensuring that your marriage remain Christ centered. There is only one who is fully prepared to help you become the greatest man/ woman you can be on earth or bring out the very best in you! It is therefore necessary to choose prayerfully and ask “God your will be done, not mine!”
- There are wolves in sheep’s clothing. If you don’t choose with your heart, ears and eyes open, seeking God’s wisdom, you may be settling to be the craftsmanship in the devil’s workshop. “Not everyone who says, Lord, Lord will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.” (Matthew 7:21) Therefore not all who proclaim the Name of Christ know Him! Be vigilant because you just might be marrying the devil himself! Pray “Lord give me eyes for the person who if joined in marriage with me will bring out the most for your glory! Help me to know the difference between the strange woman/evil man and the righteous, virtuous man/woman.”
- The value of what God wants to give you surpasses the worth of your “dream spouse”. Therefore in determining what your spouse “should be like” ask God to transform your desires to His will. “Order my steps, O Lord.” It is one thing to want something but it is something else to accept it when you receive it! Do you think you can honestly handle what you desire? When we see things through the eyes of God we have no chance of messing up or ending up in a ditch of eternal doom. Why? – He can see the future, He made the future, he therefore holds it, He is the future! Without Him there’d be no tomorrow. You see, your expectation of God is way below than who He really is, what He can and will do for you (Isaiah 55:8-9). Only trust HIM!
When you would have found that righteous, virtuous spouse recognize their value. Pray that God would increase the worth of His treasure because you would want to wake up every day smiling, knowing that it is worth every minute to spend the rest of your life with the person next to you. Knowing that God won’t give you something that’s lacking, but without lack, for the perfection of His will and glory in your life.
