It is easy for us to loose our focus and be drifted away from the focal point (in our lives). We are easily carried away by things that seems to be attractive or interesting and easily evolved or given. Sadly, a lot of the times these things force us to let our guards down, giving everything that we have and gaining nothing but emptiness, bitterness and insanity. We contradict our own beliefs and diminish our values by partaking in these things which are of less, temporary or little worth. We also often disrespect the teachings and wishes of our parents, or deny God's commands by yielding into such things.
As Believers of Jesus Christ, let us be very cautious of the devil's tricks and his plan to destroy us because of our commitment to God. He will do anything to discourage your faith or cause you to loose hope in God. Never be afraid to stand up for what you believe! What you believe will help make you. Satan will by all means try to break you and bring you to your lowest point by setting traps that will distract your focus on God. For some of us, our battle may be watching a movie or listening to songs that will corrupt our pure thoughts; a temptation to sexual sins; peer-pressure to dress, talk or act like the "crowd" so you won't feel left out. Keep your guard up! It is harder for an enemy army to enter and destroy a camp where its soldiers are awake and well-armed.
Stay in constant prayer and mediation on God's Word. Don't get complacent in your walk with God. We can never have enough or too much of Him! We need to be always alert of what's taking place in and around us; to be careful never to give into sin or 'what seems right'. We must walk in the spirit always (Colossians 3). If we are tuned into God and what he expects from us, then we would make the right decision to always do what pleases Him.
God knew that we would struggle to stand up for what we believe and that the enemy (Satan) will fight to bring us to a point of discouragement that we would reject our faith or destroy our good reputation. Hence, Paul encourages us to be sober and vigilant and to beware of the devil who is like a roaring lion seeking to devour your soul (1 Peter 5:8). I pray that you will not be overwhelmed by the pressure of this world to stoop so low as to deny your faith in God, or diminish your reputation. May you stand strong and never let your guard down.
