This is just one of the seven saying of Jesus while He was hanging on the cross. The lesson to be learnt here is that we must think of others while we are in our own suffering. Jesus was scourged, therefore bruised and wounded. There upon the cross He laid, crucified bearing the burdens of the whole world and yet he took the time recognize and was sympathetic towards the sorrow of those hanging next to him.
It was shocking to see that one who was suffering so much turned to give comfort to the thief who cried out to Him asking for a place in His Kingdom. Jesus has left a clear example of how we should act towards and treat others in the midst of our own personal
struggle or affliction. We ought to refrain from being self-absorbed. If Jesus who while he was faced the greatest trial in all the earth brought comfort to those with dying needs. Surely we have no excuse. We should behave in like manner towards the needs of others. Certainly we can minister to and bring comfort to others while in our pain and grief.
Are you faced with a shocking struggle or pain? Well, look to Jesus who bore the sins of the world through excruciating pain. He had not just left with us words of comfort but has set a model for us to follow. May looking to Him take your eyes of yourself and inspire you to reach out to those around you who are hurting, needy and hopeless. As you seek to inspire such people, your grief will become a greater inspiration to the world around you.
Let your pain be your inspiration! Jesus did!
