The young man curiously ask Jesus (vs. 16), "...master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?" Jesus answered and said unto him, "...if thou will enter into life, keep the commandments (which is listed in vs. 18). The young man thought that he had done everything that Jesus was asking him do. Confused he said, "I did all these things from my youth: what lack I yet?" (vs.20).
In Matthew 19:16-21, we behold a story of a young rich ruler who was very interesting in having the "gift of eternal life"- God's immeasurable, undeserving reward to those who follow Him with all their heart. It means placing God first in your life, above everything else. Nothing should be more important to you than developing and maintaining a relationship with God. Nothing should stop you from worshiping (serving) Him with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your might. Nothing!

You woke up this morning and you feel like you really don't have the strength to go through today. You think to yourself, "there is no way I can make that next move!" You feel like you just need to rest and be re-energized. But you are so drained and fatigue that you feel like there is nothing that could possibly give you the kind of strength that you'll need to survive this time and to rise again. Distress yourself! "God can! He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak." Isaiah 40:29 (NIV)
It is not my word, not my praise but Him who sits upon the throne. He gave the promise. He will fulfill it (in your life). Believe it and receive it! He gives us the strength that we need to survive. Wait on Him. Rely fully on Him. He will renew you, sustain you and your strength will soar like an eagle because Jesus Saves and He keeps. He loves and never departs. (Isaiah 40: 33) Strength for today and each day you face. God's got it! Just ask (in faith)! |
