Our natural tendency is to focus our thinking on, "What do I want? What should I require of others? Even, what do I want God to do for me?" All these questions are okay, but how often do we stop to think about 'what does God really want from me?'
We always try to please ourselves more than we please God. "What is right in my sight is best! I don't care about anyone else. The wisdom of others and God doesn't matter. What matters is what I want!"
How selfish of us to think that way! We were created for the main purpose of glorifying God with our lives and this means following His commands or laws in order to please Him, not 'self' or man. Proverbs 21:3 says, "To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice." To delight in Him and to please Him.
"Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind." Ecclesiastes 12:13
