“Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.” - Will Rogers
Do you expect a predator to catch its prey if he never tries or if he quits hunting? What may happen if a watchman falls a sleep on his job? The probability is that he will be attacked. You cannot stop doing, going, or moving even if you're on a good path in life. Even if you "feel" like you've accomplished much on the path, the journey is probably not yet ended until you can see the fruitfulness of your persistence and perseverance. "The difference between perseverance and obstinacy is that one comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won't". ~Henry Ward Beecher
As you reflect on your level of persistence and perseverance in life or towards your "dreams", consider the following.
1. Doing things that are fun, simple or easy often leads to long-term failure in life.
2. Those who quit when faced with failure or difficulties will never be persistent enough to stick with something of real significance, long enough to enjoy the benefits thereof.
3. Those who persevere through periods of adversity are most likely to achieve the meaningfulness of their effort and persistence.
4. You may have to work very hard to achieve some goals. If you decide to relax and relax too long you might setting yourself up for a "crash" you never expected.
5. So don't stop!
Romans 5:2-5 "... but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us."
