Often times I am baffled by the down fall of many, including Christians, and am sure like me, many of you may often ask," How in the world did they come from being Queens and Kings to such state of poverty. How did he come from being President to a mere member or no member at all? How come she moved from being the well loved,well-supported songster to just an ordinary singer. He was a great business manager, now how come he seems to be so unsuccessful? Such occurrences often leaves us speechless and confused. Reaching so far or having achieved so much and yet fall way back down the ladder is 'a stab in the chest'. How horrible and uncertain the feeling may be for the individual going through such down fall. Should a king loose his throne, or should a queen loose her crown it would be very a devastating. When people who are successful and prosperous suddenly becomes merely a bunch of egg shells, they feel that their lives are meaningless and useless. They feel like a curse of death has come over them. But they don't understand it themselves. Many victims would often wonder, "How did this happen?" They are as dumbstruck as we are. Still they have no clue.
When we do things because we want to draw attention to ourselves (whether its our intention or not) we violate God's Person because we are trying to gravitate something that should be only given to Him.- Glory. Glory belongs to God (Galatians 1:5-7). It's like a queen loosing her crown. But if we remain humble before God and remind ourselves that what we do is all for His Glory; for we are but His vessel made out of clay, carved and shaped by the Potter, God himself; then we would be careful not to think more highly of ourselves than we ought to think (Romans 12:23).In that way you could save yourself from the aches of falling. But remember it is God who builds (kingdoms), sets up His people in high places and yet He tears down and rebuilds. After all, He is in control!
"He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning." (Daniel 2:21)
"But it is God who executes judgment, putting down one and lifting up another." (Psalm 75:7)
We must be willing to serve, not ourselves but others, it is then we will continue to rise and the glory of God will shine upon us. The Bible declares that the greatest among us shall be the servant (Matthew 23:11). It is not about possessions or abilities because God qualifies the called and He can use the simplest object or situation or person to bring us the greatest message. But what is imperative in becoming a more prosperous and successful person in life is your humility; your willingness to serve and not be served.
For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. -Matthew 23:12
You can have all the riches in the world and yet have nothing. You could be the most prominent person on earth and yet be unsuccessful. No matter where you go or what you do, you should strive for excellence but be aware that your level expectancy won't disarm you from disappointments or failures. So aim cautiously. It is very easy for us to slip and fall for we are but frail and not without flaw. Therefore I encourage you, when you begin to rise from the ashes, don't get too complacent,"keep the blinker on"! Remember that God exalts the humble. The one who exalts himself, He will bring to naught.
