Sacrifice is living selflessly.
Sacrifice is indeed a denial of one's own needs, desires, or passion for the sake of the good of others.
Sacrifice is a step of faith. It's like peacefully dropping off a roof with the belief in your heart that your dad will catch you. In the same way, when you make a sacrifice you believe that it is not in vain.
Sacrifice simply means placing others in front of you for a worthy cause.
Sacrifice is sometimes painful, but the gain is usually even greater in the long run.
For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.- Luke 9:24 | NIV |
Imagine trying to save your own life. You do everything you can for your own good with little or no consideration or care for others. When you're thinking that you're actually gaining, the tables tend to turn and instead of saving everything you have you loose it in the end. As Christians, sacrifice is a symbol of a holy life. God wants us to place the needs of others in front of our own. Being a Christian is a sacrifice of your self will in order to bring glory and honor to God Almighty. If you deny your self and walk in God's ways, then you will save your own life. You may not have the things that you want but you will receive greater things to come because the sacrifice you make for God's glory will not be in vain.
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Cor. 15:58
