Most of us may have witnessed the normal behavior of a cat and a mouse upon encounter. Here is an interesting scenario of a hunter verses a prey: An experiment with domestic and captive wildcats carried out by a group lead by a Scientist named Paul Leyhausen, indicate that "a cat will continue chasing, catching, and killing mice even it has stopped to be hungry. Sooner or later it may stop killing them but would continue chasing and catching them. Then it might stop catching them, but would still stalk them. After a long while, it may give up on mice. But the point during which the cat is chasing and catching without killing and eating appears just like torture."
This is kinda like what Satan does to us. He chases after us and seeks to destroy us, and even when he has brutalized our freedom of humanity and trust, he still stalks us. Once the hunter catches its prey, nothing brings him no greater satisfaction. Satan seeks to destroy us and turn our hearts far away from God. He chases after us and will not stop chasing unless we are damned for eternity in hell. He does not want to see you doing right. He doesn't want you walking in the light....this is why the cat takes pleasure having the mice hide and he then chases after it. Satan enjoys watching us suffer. He delights in seeing you live in fear or torment. His aim is to distract you from encountering your "cheese" which will be God. He hates the way you are undeniably satisfied, rested and empowered when you would have an encounter with God the Father.
As God's children we always have to watchful because the hunter is always seeking a prey which may be you. Hence, we must be alert with what's happening around us. Constant prayer, bible study and reflection can help us walk on the right path, thus in the right spirit as we seek God's continued guidance for our lives.
Be mindful that Satan is the Cat and we are the mice; we are his targeted prey and he won't give up until he destroys YOU. So be ye watchful! "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour..." (1 Peter 5:8)
