"Nothing great is ever
achieved without much enduing." -St. Catherine of Siena.
"There is no road of flowers leading to glory." -Jean De La Fontaine
"The greater the difficulty the greater the glory." -unknown.
Our lives go through different seasons or changes, both good and bad. Life in it self is a runway of highly competitive models. Everyone wants to be at the top. But to get to the top each model must face the judges who give them hard core criticisms on their performance which will either break or persuade the individual. Each individual has to face their own thorns. They can either see these positive, descriptive criticism as a motivation to learn and grow or look at is as downfall. When we go through the test of time it is very difficult to be hopeful. But when God 'chastises' us He is not merely punishing us but He is rather grooming us for the future. He is preparing us for what we are going to face and what he has in store for us. No trial that you go through is meaningless. No heart-ache is reversible but you can recover. The pain you undergo, the troubles you face are the thorns that will make you a better person tomorrow. Yes, the thorns in your life today may hurt you, break you. Life may bring you many tears and sorrows but it is what will help turn your life in to a beautiful Taxus of tomorrow.
Wherever we are in life, our circumstance is a part of our training to become the best (for God). Living is hard. Success, you work at it! No "good" success comes without the proper training/skills. So questioning God... "Why me? Why this? Why now?" is like fighting a loosing battle. Stop the complaining and realize that your thorn today will make you a better "off-spring" tomorrow. We are God's offspring and He desires nothing but the best for us. Don't let the thorns in your life break you. You take charge! Be determined to endure and win because God is with you. God is going to use the pain, the hurt, the shame, the doubts, the fears, the oppression, the hate of others, the rejection, the loss, any troubles you are now facing; and He is going to turn it around for His glory and your good. He is going to refine you through these trials. You are His silver metal which He is purging in the fire to make a beautiful, piece of gold instrument. Yes, God is molding you and He is shaping you into the most spectacular being. He is going to take you from where you are and bring you to higher places, through the test of time.
"The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed." -Psalm 34:18 (NLT). Even tough it may not feel this way or look that way, He is working it out for you. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not unto yourown understanding" (Proverbs 3:5).
"He is before all things, and in him all things hold together."-(Colossians 1:17). Sometimes we tend to interfere with God's work in our own lives because we feel like we're our own boss. Don't try to save your self from trouble when God promised that He will take care of you. He is Our Redeemer! You can walk with our head high though troubles and trials come because God has your back.
Hardship should not be seen as a downfall, but we should see it as stepping stone. The Word of God tells us that we should rejoice in times like these. "Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect (mature) and complete, lacking in nothing."- James 1:2-4 (NASB) Everyone face their own struggles but for Christians, pain and suffering is not an option. We must go through the test of time, hence Paul encourages to be strong and endure hardships and good soldiers of Jesus Christ ( 2 Timothy 2:3).
God is saying, the pain that you go through is for your good. "Does this makes sense?" Absolutely not! But even Jesus Christ, The Son of God, went through so much pain before His enthronement. He suffered, He sacrificed, He survived, and He was successful! Yes, it was God's will, even our own suffering. But, God is going to bring you success through thorns! You see, when the devil causes ahvoc in our lives, God does not draw back, instead, each time Satan makes a mess God releases His Power. God is making something new, something beautiful out of your life through the 'thorns'. So don't fear, don't frown, nor fret.
Be of good cheer! Tomorrow you're going to become stronger and much wiser because you went through the fire, went through the flood and through it all God molded and shaped you; and the Blood of Jesus covered you. And now, as you look back, you can know that it wasn't you, nor the work of any human hand, but God's. Your troubles may seem worthless. But here is what God is doing: He is taking your "nothingness" (through the test of time) to give the best of everything. Thorns today will make you a Taxus tomorrow. Endure the fight! Become stronger! Become better!
Notes: Taxus (yew) is a slow growing, green plant and can withstand severity. It is also usually very long-lived.
