1 Corinthians 3:16-KJV
| It is unfortunate how we sometimes treat our bodies with such disrespect and devalue. I believe that people treat their bodies based on what they think of it. Hence, there is misappropriate use of this delicate creation. Your body is not a toy. It's not a sex machine, nor is it just waste. Your body is more than flesh. It's the God given shelter for our wandering souls to live in. It's temporary, but the value of your body is beyond the value of money. It is God's dwelling place here on earth. Our bodies represent the Creator, God. Although this fleshly beauty will one day deteriorate, taking care of your body and using it appropriately will attract massive gains in the long run. To refuse to properly use your body may lead you to some very harsh consequences. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 ESV "Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple." |
Second Realization: That's where God's Spirit dwells. It is a holy place.
Third Realization: You belong to God. Therefore your purpose is to glorify God with your body, in thought, words or deed.
Treating your body like a temple requires much discipline. Things to consider includes what you use it for and how you use it...what you put in and what you let out of your body. For example, what kind of thoughts you feed your brain on? How do you use your hands; to do good or bad? What kind of places do you take your feet? What do you look at with your eyes? What kinds of things do you listen to? What do you say with your mouth, and how do you say it? What kinds of conversation do you keep? Furthermore, what kinds of food or drinks do you consume? What to I do to maintain a healthy body?
Check Point: Does what I hear, see, think, say or do glorify God? Is it edifying and profitable (to others and myself)?
